The Burrow
A shallow winding ‘wing of light’ plan, gentle 3 degree pitch towards the
Southerly glazed elevation along with 26 Sun Pipes providing natural light
through the 1200mm earth sheltered roof structure resulting in a bright,
naturally lit interior.
First designs for this project were produced in 1992.
Reworked and renamed MUD (Millennium underground dwelling) and resubmitted
for planning in 1999. The final scheme was granted approval despite an
officer recommendation to refuse in 2000 following a site visit. A scale
model of the building was created to explain the scheme and the context, the
model was placed on site for the site visit.
The finished building blends into the landscape.
